Ton Rijnders holds a PhD in molecular biology.He joined Organon in 1986 and became Vice President Research in 2003. After the acquisition of Organon by Schering-Plough in 2007, Ton was appointed VP Discovery and Site Head Oss within the Schering-Plough Research Institute. After the merger of Merck with Schering-Plough Ton continued to head Discovery in Oss within the Merck Research Labs until 2011. He was one of the founding fathers of TI Pharma, a public private partnership in drug discovery which managed a portfolio of over 50 consortia with a total investment of around € 300m. In 2011 Ton took up responsibility as Scientific Director at TI Pharma. As of January 1st 2016 TI Pharma has merged with CTMM and is now named Lygature. In addition, from 2013 onwards Ton is also Head of the European Screening Centre, part of the IMI European Lead Factory.
